South Huron Community Theatre is located in Exeter, Ontario Canada in the Municipality of South Huron. We are an incorporated, non-profit organization that relies on the good nature of volunteers to present live theatre to our community. We hold bi-annual public general meetings to elect our Board of Directors and present our end-of-year financial statement. Ticket sales fund the show’s production costs and the remaining funds, if any, ae used to finance the next show. We also appreciate the financial support of area businesses and individuals who sponsor specific productions. We use our Facebook page to announce sign-up and audition times and to promote our ticket sales.
South Huron Community Theatre exists to provide the South Huron community with the joyful experience of participating in and being an audience for fully-staged, live theatrical productions presented by volunteers from the community on an annual and self-sustaining basis
After selecting our show, then casting it and assigning our Board’s directors and their helpers to their behind the scenes’ jobs, it is time for rehearsals to begin. Rehearsals are usually held once a week and this is where the mess-finding step begins. We imagine what our finished show will be like and we work backwards from there. The mess is often what it feels like for the first half our our rehearsal schedule. Then little by little, the show takes shape.
It is our philosophy that you never put people on stage until they feel confident that they can do it. That is not to say, there aren't nervous jitters, there are! But that's the sort of stress that keeps us on our toes. But there is no easy substitution for rehearsing in order to be prepared, confident, and joyful about your own performance and that of your cast-mates.
What happens next is magic….
